The Android smartphone market is buzzing with new and improved handsets, each offering features better than the last. Take a look at the top 10 devices we dug up, available for less than Rs. 15,000 each.
1. iBall Andi 5C: This Android ICS handset is powered by a 1 GHz Cortex-A9 processor and a 2300 mAh battery. It sports a massive 5-inch IPS display and a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with an LED flash. The 3G compatible phone comes with GPS, G-sensor, proximity sensor and light sensor. iBall is retailing the dual-Sim GSM device for Rs. 12,999.
2. Intex Aqua 4.0: Running on an 800 GHz processor, a 1400 mAh battery and Android’s ICS OS, the Aqua packs in a 3.5-inch display, a primary 3-megapixel camera and a front facing VGA shooter. Its display sports 2 point touch input and a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels.
Though the phone ships with 512 MB of ROM and 131 MB of built-in storage, its external memory is expandable by up to 32 GB with a microSD card. Connectivity options on the phone include Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth. The Intex Aqua 4.0 offers support for Hindi and English and is available for Rs. 5,490.
3. Kobian Mercury magiQ: This 5-inch dual-Sim handset runs on ICS and is powered by a 1 GHz processor. It comes with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory which can be expanded externally by up to 32 GB. The magiQ packs in a 12-megapixel primary camera and a front facing VGA shooter.
Retailing for Rs. 12,700, it offers 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
4. Micromax Superfone Pixel A90: The A90 sports a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED  screen, an 8-megapixel primary camera and a 0.3-megapixel front facing shooter. The dual-Sim handset runs on ICS and a 1 GHz processor. Memory on the phone is expandable by up to 32 GB with a microSD card and its ships with a RAM of 512 MB.
The A90 offers Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth connectivity and is pre-installed with the voice assistant Aisha. It is priced at Rs. 12,990.
5. Spice Stellar Horizon: Powered by a dual-core 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a 300 MHz GPU, this dual-Sim smartphone runs on ICS. It sports a 5-inch touchscreen, a 5-megapixel primary camera and a 0.3-megapixel secondary shooter.
Its advanced security features set it apart from all its peers. Spice is selling the Stellar Horizon for Rs. 11,999.
6. Micromax Supferfone Canvas A100: Powered by a 1GHz dual-core Mediatek 6577 processor and a 2000 mAh battery, the dual-Sim phablet runs on Android ICS. It ships with 4 GB of onboard memory and 512 MB of RAM while its external memory can be expanded with a microSD card.
The handset sports a 5-inch screen, a primary rear facing 5-megapixel shooter and a secondary front facing 0.3-megapixel one. Its connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and USB. The A100 costs Rs. 9,999.
7. LG Optimus L3 Dual: LG’s latest smartphone offers everything the L3 does – along with the functionality of dual-Sims. An 800 MHz Cortex-A5 processor and an Adreno 200 GPU power the device which runs on Android Gingerbread. It ships with a RAM of 384 MB and an internal memory of 1 GB which is expandable with a microSD card.
The 3G compatible handset is equipped with a 3.2-inch TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen and a 3.2-megapixel camera. The Optimus L3 Dual is available for Rs. 8,299.
8. MTS Mtag 351: This Gingerbread device runs on an 800MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor and a 1300 mAh battery. It packs in a 3.5-inch touchscreen, a primary 3-megapixel camera, a secondary VGA front facing shooter and a 2 GB memory card. Its memory is further expandable up to 32 GB.
The Mtag 351 is retailing for Rs. 7,499 with unlimited ‘All You Can Use’ high speed data plans and local MTS to MTS calls.

While connectivity options on the phone include 3G, Bluetooth, USB, GPS and Wi-Fi, its memory can be expanded with a microSD card by up to 32 GB. The A84 is available for Rs. 9,999.
10. Sony Xperia Tipo: If you can wait a while, look out for Sony’s next budget offering. An ICS handset, the Xperia Tipo runs on an 800 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and an Adreno 200 GPU. It offers a RAM of 512 MB and an onboard memory of 2.9 GB which can be expanded by up to 32 GB.
It sports a 3.2-inch TFT touchscreen and a 3.2-megapixel camera and comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Micro USB and 3G connectivity. Although its price is yet unknown, it is estimated to cost less than Rs. 10,000 when it hits stores in the coming weeks.
